DUI and Auto Insurance

What is the status of a person's automobile insurance during the interim defense of a DUI citation? Are you required to notify your insurance company of a DUI arrest? The status of the case is the defense attorney is trying to work out an agreement with the State Attorney's office for a lesser charge. No trial has been set.

A person must maintain insurance whenever they own a car. Unless your policy specifically requires you to disclose a DUI arrest you do not have to. However, if you got in an accident you have a separated duty to report the accident to them so they can defend on your behalf.
