Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Child support termination

In 1989 I was ordered to pay child support in Florida. The order stated that ''said payments shall continue for so long as the child(dren) are dependent under current Florida Law.''

I need to know what the current law was at the that time in Florida - September,1989 -in regards to the termination of child support.

Re: Child support termination

Based on the information provided, Florida family law, in the absence of specific language in the Final Judgment to the contrary, considers child support to continue until modified by the court, the child attains majority (age 18), is married, joins the military, or otherwise is emancipated, i.e., is supporting himself apart from the parent and is not under parental control. You are advised to consult an attorney for specific advice.
