Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida

missing person, how to find out about life insurance??

my father disappeared in march of this year while on a routine business trip in brazil. He told me he had a life insurance policy,I do not know if he has a safety dep.box, and I do not know who his lawyer is,how can I find out if he left a will or policy?

Also, how long must he be missing before he is declared dead?I am hoping to use any inherited money to hire a private investigator to locate his remains, can it be accessed immediatly?

thank you.

Re: missing person, how to find out about life insurance??

You should immediately contact an attorney. He/she

can help you investigate what occurred. Are there

any other relatives (your mother, grandparents)

who have any idea? What about the "business" he

was on - maybe there is a claim for worker's compensation

benefits, employee death benefits, etc.

You really should talk to someone who knows what

to do. Call me if you want to discuss this.
