Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Racial Discrimination

Can I still file a complaint and eventually take to court my ex-employer who sent me a racially discriminatory email while I was still working with them? It happened about 16 months ago. I still have the email. I raised the issue during my exit interview but nothing was done.

Re: Racial Discrimination

The statute of limitations, or time limit, to file a discrimination lawsuit under the NJ anti-discrimination statute (the NJ Law Against Discrimination) is two years. You would likely have a better case if you actually complained about the letter and asked them to file an investigation on it prior to you leaving employment with them.
