Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Assessment Payment

I have received a notice of special assessment to cover removal of hurricane damaged trees throughout our community. I do not have the money to pay this assessment - I can barely cover the regular monthly assessment. Do I have any kind of recourse? The Board of Directors will not even ''entertain'' my question. Thank you.

Re: Assessment Payment

You need to get a copy of the charter or by-laws of your condo or housing association and refer to special assessments section. This should give you information as to what assessments you are required to pay and what assessments you may challenge.
