Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Georgia

appeal

A summary judgement was ruled against me, the judge said I did not respond to the motion.I did not receive any paperwork from the plaintiff in a timely manner, due to my residence moving 2 times waiting to move into a house. The plaintiff's lawyer was notified of me sending the appropriate materials to him. The lawyer said his paperwork of nonresponse was sent of to the judge already. The materials I sent were postmarked on Friday, the Plaintiff's lawyer said his materials were sent off the following Monday. Is an appeal in order? How long do I have to make an appeal? Will an appeal stop the garnishment process?

Re: appeal

You really need to immediately see an attorney. That is really the only answer to your questions.

This answer, though responsive to the question is general in nature, is not designed to be and should not be relied on as your sole source of information when analyzing and resolving a specific legal issue. Each fact situation is different; the laws are constantly changing. If you have specific questions regarding a particular fact situation, I urge you to consult with competent legal counsel.
