dad lives in geogria. would like to know what type of power attorney i would need to get for making decisons on medical and financial decsions on his behalf.

He will need both a medical and general power of attorney. It is best to have a lawyer draft both.

He needs a Healthcare Power of Attorney. He probably should also consider a Living Will. Consult with an attorney in the area in which he lives.
