Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois

Filing a libel suit

Someone made false and damaging statements about me on a major internet bulletin board. It cost me clients. Can I sue of libel in my state rather than go to the offender's state?

Thank You

Jurisdiction over individuals under these circumstances is a developing area of the law. Illinois has a long-arm statute that gives Illinois courts jurisdiction over individuals with certain contacts with Illinois. What contacts does this person have with Illinois? Where does the Internet Bulletin Board do business and/or where is its principal place of business and is the Bulletin Board a potential defendant as well?
