Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

I don't want to go to jail... again.

A week ago I was arrested, as there was a warrant out for my arrest. I was cuffed and stuffed and literally thrown in jail. My 300 dollars bail was posted and I was allowed to go home with a court date set for a month later.

When I got home I managed to find out who put me in jail. It turned out that an old debt had bit me in the ass. I had a $750 debt for an MRI that wasn't paid for by my insurance. I remembered being in court for this particular debt before. As I remember it I went to court and was given a certain amount of time to either get my insurance company to pay or I would have to. Well, one thing led to another and I never paid the debt, in the meantime I had moved and any missives from the court stating that I had to pay up or have a warrant issued never got to me.

Now I'm going to court and I intend to have the money in hand to pay the default settlement of $750 but I am terribly afraid that I will be jailed for this. What can I expect to happen? What might the court costs in a situation like this come to? Can you speculate these things for me please?

In the collection process there is a hearing to discover assets WHICH YOU MUST ATTEND, if you do not, you are jailed for contempt of court failure to appear , not non payment of debts, if you call the collection attorney and pay up before hand then you should have no problem, or file Bankruptcy, and discharge the debts , then you cannot be made to a answer for anymore citations to discover assets.
