Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

I was sent an offer for identity theft protection for $8 per month. I ignored it but now am being charged. When I called the company, they said because I didn't reply no, they can bill me. Is this legal?

Nice. No identity theft, just outright theft of money. My guess is that you signed up for something "free" at some point, which included your assent to this. In any event, I would certainly require them to prove this to me, and to provide me with the cancellation policy. On the other hand, they might be complete scammers, in which case, you might try contacting an attorney in your area, or contacting the Illinois Attorney General's office.
