Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Auto accident no insurance

I was in a auto accident 4 years ago. The accident was my fault. And the car which was no mine had no insurance. I didn't know this at the time. Well i paid my fines and went on in life. Now four years later i'm being sued by the other person insurance company. Right now i'm a stay at home mom with 2 kids my husband make about 25,000 a year. I have no saving and don't not own anything. The accident took place in il. I now live in ga. I have no money for a lawyer or to go to court. I don't know what to do. I talk to someone who told me to talk to the lawyer and explain that there is no money. And if he continues then to file for chapter 7. Please get me your opinion about my case and about the advice a lawyer give me.

If they get a judgment against you you may lose your license and could be garnisheed in the future. Bankruptcy may be an option. I'd have to see more information to advise you.
