Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

County wants to knockdown my father's garage.

My father has owned land with just a garage on it for about 8 years now, the last 2 days he has had roofers put on a new roof of the garage, my dad got tagged by the county, for not having permits, which is the roofers fault for not getting one, anyway my dad after talking to the county, they took him the man who sold him the garage 8 plus years ago, did it unlawfully and he needed to kick down the garage before doing it. But my dad did talk to the county 8 years ago about the property and they said everything was ok. So now they did a 180 on him coming back 8 years later, and telling him they are gonna knock down his garage. What do we need to do to keep this from happening ?

I don't know. You might be able to prevent the county from doing this with an injunction, which involves going to court. You should talk to a local litigation attorney. You may also have a claim against the guy that originally put up the garage. Good luck.
