Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Indiana

Legal Question (Copyright - Slander)

I plan on selling, for profit, in public locations, t-shirts with a cartoon drawn depiction of a real person (NBA Commissioner David Stern) having a glass of beer poured on his head by a fictional person. No shirt show no last names, no logos, no team names, and no other images. Could I run into some legal trouple here?

If just an original satirical representation of the NBA Commissioner is all that you have on the shirt. No NBA logos, no team names and no other trademarks or service marks of anyone, you are probably safe. You may want to have a quick check done by a good copyright lawyer. I can recommend one who lives near St. Louis and does significant legal work for Indiana clients.
