Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Kansas

Ordered off Public Street

I was parked on a street watching a soccer game that my grand children were participating in. The street did NOT have any 'No Parking'' signs and I was not blocking any traffic. There was also another vehicle parked in front of me and that person was not ordered to move. The police chief ordered me to leave under threat of arrest for a trumped up charge. I was not making any disturbance at all, just quietly watching the soccer game from my vehicle. I believe my civil rights were violated and I was threatened unlawfully with arrest. Do I have a case against the police department and or the city? This situation has really bothered me emotionally and with my sleeping. I feel like this town is under some kind of Martial Law with situations like mine happenning here.

Re: Ordered off Public Street

This is not the sort of civil rights violation (even if it exists) that a court is likely to entertain.

Obviously there are other issues here and no one can tell you whether you were on a 'trumped up' charge or not, but if you feel strongly about it, you should consult a local civil rights attorney to see whether there is a connection to a wider police problem.

Also, you should file and follow up with a citizen's complaint.
