Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

Louisiana Multiple Misdemeanor

I have a friend recently arrested for 3

misdemeanors (possesion of nitrous

oxide, paraphernalia [balloons], and a

marijuana ''roach''). It was a first

offense and the stuff had been left in

the car by a coworker. Is it likely my

friend will go to prison? The max

sentence is $500 and/or 6 months--if

he receives jail time, is it likely he will

a 1 1/2 in jail? He is an older

gentleman (in his 50's) and still has

teenaged dependent children (though

he is separated from his wife and the

children do not currently live with

him.

He probably will not go to jail but he should seek a capable criminal defense lawyer.
