Legal Question in DUI Law in Louisiana

I am currently 20 years old being discharged from the united states coast guard for recieving a dwi. Will this greatly impact my career? i am planning on going back to school when i get home to my residence in michigan. I am currently in louisiana and if discharged i need to move back home but still plead in my case that my laywer may have to do for me in my absence. I had a dream in working in law enforcement but this slip up i have a feeling ruined all chances for that.

I am not sure a DWI will get you discharged......but if it does, it cannot be a dishonorable one. That is the only type I believe you should worry about. I suspect you are NOT telling this site the whole truth.....such as the DWI is a plea bargain reduced from something greater, or there was an accident with death or serious injury. Anyway, you should not be ruined if it is "just a dwi."
