Dwi

how can I get an earlier court date because I'm going to be relocating to Plainfield Ill hopefully next month. My licence will be suspended untill oct 19 th. This is my first offence and trust me my last. I would like to get this behind me. Ive learned my lesson. I need to move on. I was recently divorced with two kids. I have custody and they want to get closer to their mother in Plainfield, Ill. I have a couple of jobs inline but cant do anything untill I take care of this court date. Please help.

Re: Dwi

Depending on what you are charged with, you may be able to have an attorney appear on your behalf and plead the case in absentia (in your absence). If the only charges are traffic and first offense DWI (e.g., no serious bodily injuries), you can.

I would advise calling an attorney in your local town to see if he can do something for you. There is likely nothing you can do to move the court date up unless you want to plead guilty as charged, which is almost never recommended even if you are prepared to plead guilty. In 9 out of 10 cases where a party is prepared to accept a guilty plea, an attorney can still get a better sentence for them, so simply pleading guilty is not advised.

Once you move, you can do any required community service, driver's improvement, AA, etc., in your new community.
