Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

court hearing

I just recently went to court in La.my ex wife was trying to get more child support because i am putting her in contempt for not letting me see my 3 kids. (the visitation is court ordered. She did not allow the kids to come and visit me in Dec.04.so i went to court today and put her in contempt the only thing that she could come up with is that she wants more money.Well, the courts did not grant her to get more money. anyway, the only thing is that how can she want more money when in Aug.04 that she was unemployed making $1150 a month, and i was making $29K a yr.. and still paying $622. and now that she is working pt making more than the $1150 and I went down to $26k a yr,,,how is this enabling her to recv a raise knowing that she or myself can go back every 6 months or every 3yrs. with a change in circumstances. 2. Can she go to court to request that my new wife not be involved with the kids when they come to visit us in Va.

Re: court hearing

First, if finances are substancially changed, you can file to have them recalculated and possibly reduced. Contact a family law attorney in the jurisdiction where she is located and have that lawyer calculate the correct amount of support.

Second, unless there is a reason why exposure to their step-mother would not be in the childrens's best interest, the court probably would not forbid her from having contact with her husband's children.
