Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland
Threatening Security Guard
Parents were threatened by an armed security guard for not returning a shopping cart to the front of the store. Verbal obscene language was used and told not to come back to the store. Reference was made as to what would be done to them if they returned. Contacted security guards company to complain and has not received a return phone call. I would like to pursue the matter. What are my options?

Dispite the obvious rude behavior as claimed, no suit lies with much merit. Otherwise, you may consider filing a civil complaint against the individual.
Re: Threatening Security Guard
Your best option is to get in touch with the customer relations dept. of the store and write them a letter describing the incident. Include as much detail as possible. If it's a national company, you should be able to find out how to get in touch with them from their website. If your parents want to be able to continue to shop at this store, I don't think the store guard has any authority to stop them, but they should seek a letter from customer relations regarding this.
If you are thinking about civil litigation, I doubt that the insult inflicted on your parents would result in a large enough recovery to justify the expense. Fortunately they weren't injured or taken into custody or otherwise harmed.
