Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

my wife lied on a police report to have me arrested. she also took out a restraining order while i was in jail, but visited me twice and gave me money. i spent 102 days in jail with very serious charges. she testified at the status conference hearing, telling the judge that i should not have been arrested, but never said she lied on the report. i took a plea which left me guilty of a misdemeanor, got time served and 3 years probation.

the problems this has caused in my family and with me are too numerous to go over. can i sue her for deformation of character

Simple answer is Yes. You may be able to sue for abuse of process as well. Its best to get an attorney to assist you with both. The practical issue you have is that you say "your wife" versus " your ex wife."
