Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

My father is 82 and 4.5yrs ago he put me on his deed to his house. I'm looking into putting him in assisted living. I've heard that you must use all assets before medicaid with pay. What rights do I have to the property in terms of keeping the property or selling it and using it for my sons college or do I need to sell it to pay for care before medicare will take over. He has small savings and gets 2200 a month for retirement and social security and with care being so expensive that wouldn't go far. Also he lives in South Carolina and I live in MD if that makes a difference. Thank You!

Without discussing this matter, there is a 5 year look back provision for Medicaid. I would need to see titling of the property as well as understand your father's care and other financial matters. Call me to discuss.
