driving on suspended driver's licence in MD

my lawyer just informed me he can not make my court date and I cant ask for an extension as I have to leave for navy boot camp two days later what should I tell the judge in order to avoid jail time, I have no priors and licence was suspended for non-payment of a ticket for driving on expired registratio/tags?

In maryland its possible for 1 year and 1000.00 fine for this

You can't be convicted of TA16-303(c), which carries those penalties, for driving on a suspended license that was suspended only for an unpaid citation. That is a different charge and a max 60 days/$500. You should try to get another lawyer before your date, because this maybe should be thrown out unless you were also written a ticket for TA16-303(h).
