Re: i bought a use car with problems

The Mass Lemon Aid Law allows you to get your money back if the vehicle fails inspection within 7 days AND if cost to repair is 10% or more of purchase price. The dealer should have given you this information at the time of sale. Please note you must have the car inspected within 7 days and must notify the dealer w/in 14 days.

There is also a Used Vehicle warranty law which applies to sales of vehicles over $700.00 and with less than 125,000 miles. The warranty period for this vehicle (with 121,000) would be 30 days or 1,250 miles, whichever comes first. You may have a right to a refund if the dealer fails to fix the vehicle. You should consult the State of Mass website for more info on your rights. The site is www.state.ma.us/consumer/Pubs/lem.htm.
