Legal Question in Consumer Law in Massachusetts

regarding cash transactions

I was at a Mikes Mobil and gave the clerk 32 dollars. i asked for a 9 dollar car wash and the rest in gas, They shorted me 11 dollars and said they could not give me my money until i speak with a manager on monday(this was fri night).

I even had the police called to the location. Can they do this? and is there any legal recourse?

Re: regarding cash transactions

You should contact the manager and see what he or she says. If he or she does not help, you should contact the corporate headquarters of Mobile and complain that their franchise is being run by someone unscrupulous. With gas prices what they are, Mobil needs no new bad press.
