Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

My dentist is refusing final treatment for my daughters braces until we pay the last payment due. With out that treatment all the previous work done will be "undone". They took he braces off and wont give them retainers to keep the teeth straight. We will have paid almost $10,000 and my two girls teeth will be ruined without the last step. We, as others have fallen on difficult times and we are paying as much as we can on the last $500 we owe. Can they refuse to treat them at this point? Is there anything we can do? We have always apid them, maybe late, but they are getting the money. Help1

Legally he or she may well be within their contractual rights to payment.
