Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

My roommate was charged with drug distribution. The drugs were not mine but I got summoned to court with the same charges. What can I do or what kind of lawyer do I need?

They probably charged both of you anticipating he will claim in defense the substances found did not belong to him (by implication, they belog to you), and/or (although less likely) as some kind of joint venture or conspiracy concerning the drugs. What county are you in? If you have no prior record, you can probably get rid of this without much, if any, consequence to you, especially if your roomate owns up to possession. Even with a prior record, you are probably going to be okay here, assuming you play your cards carefully and right. The weight of the substances found -- and kind of drugs -- will determine how potentially serious the consequences could be.

Give me a call/email directly to discuss your options, without obligation to you. If you want to deal with this right away, let me know and I'll connect with you this weekend.

You'll be fine in the long run. Stressful for now, for sure, but the clouds will eventually pass.

Good luck if we don't connect.

They are going on the theory of joint venture or conspiracy, or even merely possession.

This is serious and you can be thrown out of school, if you are in school.

see my web site or call me.
