Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

I have bad credit and owe about $5000 in back taxes. If I remarry, can anyone go after him and his assets?

This is not a completely straight forward question. Assuming the tax debt was pre-marriage, you are the responsible party. However, as the marriage goes on, assets can get blended, and sometimes it is hard to figure out who they belong to. Also, as the length of the marriage increases, it becomes more likely the IRS may try to reach assets of his (rightfully or not)
