Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts

animal medical malpractice?

Is there a law to protect animal medical malpractice? I have two cats and when I brought them to the Vet to be tested for feline lukemia, the veternarian only tested one cat and said she was fine and proceeded to tell me that if one had it then the other one will even if they are not litter mates. Here I am a year later with a dying cat, that past this infectious disease on to the other. She was born with this disease and past it on to a healthy cat who tested negative a year ago. If he had tested both of them like he was suppose to, He would have realized one was infected and she should be separted before it infected the other. Where do I go from here? I don't think this is fair. Do animals have the same rights as humans? If not why?

Re: animal medical malpractice?

What an amazing and sad story. I'm sorry about your

cats.

You had a right to competent care for your cat and there

should be consequences for the malpractice of the vet.

The body of law that applies is not the same as for humans;

this is not called personal injury under our laws.
