Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

How do I add my husband's name to a home I own in Massachusetts. There is no mortgage held against this property. I just want to add his name to the deed.

It shouldn't be too much trouble at all.

You just need to have a deed drawn up properly transferring the property from "You, Individually" to "You and Hubby" together. You want to talk to an attorney to make sure you do this correctly, and to make sure you understand the implications of owning a property together with someone on inheritence, taxes, ownership succession, etc.

You have to execute and record a deed. The deed should read from you to your husband and you as tenants by the entireties.

If you need assistance preparing the deed, my office will prepare one for a reasonable flat fee. The cost of recording the deed depending on the county will be $125 or $126.
