Legal Question in DUI Law in Michigan

First Offense

Hello, I'm sure I won't get a response in time, but its worth a try.

I'm a 22-year-old full time college student and I was recently arrested for drunk driving. I am currently waiting my court date and am very nervous about the consequences I'm about to face. I have a completely clean record and this is completely out of my character. The situation came because the alcohol didn't affect me until the end of my being tested for alcohol. I would have never driven if I knew that I was drunk. I was very cooperative with the arresting officer and he was very understanding and nice. I was not read my rights when I was arrested, and was unnecessarily physically grabbed and pushed around in jail by the present officers. I am nervous because Michigan has heightened its laws against DUI and no one seems to be able to give me a straight answer on what I may receive.

Do I have any chances of getting no jail time, etc. because of my clean record and cooperation with the arresting officer?

Thank you for your time.

Hello, I have received a copy of your posting. The quick answer is that you do have a chance at no jail unless there is something egregious about the facts of your case or you have a particularly bad judge. Give me a call on Monday to discuss the details of your case. John C. Talpos ([email protected]) http://www.Mich-Lawyer.com)
