Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Less than 6 months ago, my wife & I were married in Jamaica. We reside in Michigan & lived together almost 10 yrs before we were legally married. Is there any way we can get our marriage annulled? If not, can we get a clean divorce where I'm not obligated to pay alimony & she's not attached to my 401K & life insurance?

Based on your facts, I doubt there is a way you can get an annulment. As to not paying alimony and not splitting your retirement funds, if she agrees to that, then you will not have to worry about it. If she does not, then it is a matter for negotiation or the judge to decide at a divorce trial.

Your case would not be an alimony case, in my opinion. Although you may have lived with her for 10 years, it is the length of the marriage that determines it. So, I would not delay.

Call if you would like more information. But file soon if you know you will be filing.
