custody of newborn mom is a mental case

my wife left me when she was 1 month pregnant had the baby its currently 2 months old i have never seen the baby because she moved to pennsylvania before it was born i would like sole custody of the baby because my wife has a mental issue (bi polar dis) and has seeked treatment for it before i would like to know what are my chances of getting sole custody & moving the baby with me to michigan because i think she is unfit to take care of it

I'd have to know more about your situation and how you could care for a new born and what you would do if you had to work, etc. I'd also have to know if the mother's condition is controlled by medication. Simply because someone is bipolar does not mean they cannot be a decent parent. Be careful before you leave money at an attorney's office if these issues are not considered. William S. I'm not an odds maker, but it sounds like you certainly have grounds for a custody argument. You will need to file for divorce in Michigan to create jurisdiction here. I would act quickly before she files elsewhere. For more info., please contact my office at (248)851-3171.
