Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

My girlfriend needs to get her old boyfriend to leave the house she has three kids by this man and he got fired from his job years ago and refuses to go even though the relationship has been terminated. He refuses to get a job and takes the kids every where with him denying the family access to them. He insists on staying until evicted even though there is no rental or lease agreement. What are his rights in this matter can we simply have the police remove him?

the duration of his stay is about ten years.
