Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

Defamation of character- or Slander

I have a person who i supervise (one of many) . She felt that the Department Manager, and myself were harrasing her, because we had to do Write-ups on her on (2) seperate occaisions. So, she filed an Harrasment claim with the human resources rep, (not anything at all to do with sexual harrassment) in our store, and the Store manager. I know i followed company guidelines, and did nothing wrong or unethical. MY question is this? What is my recourse agaist her, both on a civil level, and anyother level. As a possible Store manager, i have a lot to lose. Both financially , and from a career, just by having everyone talk about this. I know she defamed me, and slandered me, I want her to pay, for doing this to me. What can i do, and how do i go about this. Thank You

Re: Defamation of character- or Slander

Do nothing. Any attempt by you to retaliate against her will give her cause to file another complaint - this time with a state or federal agency.

Since the complaint stayed within your company and appears groundless, why are you so intent on seeking what appears to be revenge? This is not the type of behavior your employer is looking for in a store manager.
