Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

Showing my apartment when I am not at home

I am terminating my lease Nov. 30th of this year. The apartment management company has informed me that they are going to show my apartment on Oct 9th. They have also informed me of my responsibility to make the apartment visually well kept. I have a cat and I am unhappy with the idea of strangers strolling through my apartment when no one is home. Can I legally decline this demand? If something damaged or stolen while the apartment is being shown whose insurance is responsible? Should not the apartment company take resposibility?

Thanks.

Re: Showing my apartment when I am not at home

Your lease probably deals with this issue. Generally, it states in the lease that the landlord has the right to show the apartment or enter the apartment for specified reasons. The landlord does not want to lose out on a month's rent. I think you are thinking about this too much. I suggest talking to the landlord about your concerns of damage and/or loss.
