Time limits for insurance companies to pay settelments.

I have recently settled on a personal injury lawsuit. The paperwork of the agreement has been settled and i have signed all paperwork to lawsuit. how much time is given to the defense (the insurance company) to pay the settlement? there has to be a time limt otherwise the insurance company would never pay right.

There is no specific time limit. If they do not pay within a "reasonable" time, then the claimant has to file a motion for entry of a judgment based upon the settlement. I have had to do this on numerous occasions in the past but it is relatively infrequent. Bill Stern 248-353-9400
