Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

basrment access

I live in a duplex bottom floor with a basement. My question is the tenets on the top floor with there own entrance wants access to the basement to hook up a washer and dryer. When I lived up stairs in the same house I did'nt have access to it. I don't want them in the basement. Does the landlord have the right to grant them access. We pay 750 amonth. They pay 550 a month. We have are own electric bill

Re: basrment access

The answer to this questions will depend to a large extent on what you lease says. If you have the exclusive use to the basement, or if the basement is listed as only yours then you may be able to object to this. Without knowing who has rights in each portion of the home--you, upstairs tenant and the landlord I can't answer more completely.
