Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

I live in an apartment complex with about 200 plus units. Recently a notice was sent out that pets would be allowed, but only in certain buildings. Is it legal to allow some tenants to have pets, but not all, when we all pay the same amount of rent?

If the "no pets" rule was not in effect when you signed your lease, it will be difficult for the landlord to enforce it against you now. However, when your lease expires, new restrictions may be placed on your tenancy. The landlord is permitted to charge whatever he wants for his property, unless there is some statutory "rent controls". There is no constitutional protection for pets, so landlords can exclude them or permit them only in certain buildings.
