Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Michigan

Marilyn Monroe

I am new to a company. I have always worn Marilyn Monroe ties. I also have a FEW memoriablia (clock, cup, etc) around my office.

90% of the ties & items just show her from the neck up. A few have her in a dress or bathsuit. These are from the 50's & 60's...not too risque' versus what I see everyday now.

I have heard that a few of the women in the office are ''uncomfortable & offended.''

I can handle the ''social'' part to make people feel better.

My question is...is a headshot of Marilyn Monroe really a sexual harassment (environment) violation? If so, would a picture of a dog (I'm afraid of dogs) create a hostile environment too? Where is the line drawn?

Thanks!

Re: Marilyn Monroe

I really doubt it is any form of harrassment. However, the management has the right to request that younot wear the stuff to avoid problems. In a private work environment, your rights of free speech are not very great, especially for non-political stuff. Bill Stern 248-353-9400

Re: Marilyn Monroe

Do you want to insist on what you mistakenly believe to be your rights, or do you want to keep your job?

Your demonstrated fondness for a dead movie star is not suitable for a business environment. Once you have learned that a few of the women in the office are ''uncomfortable & offended'', you should remove all traces of MM or risk unemployment.
