Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

My mother had a life estate deed and left her home to me upon her passing. I now own the home which has no mortgage or liens but there are items in the home my sister wants. I am willing to give them to her but she has yet to come and pick them up.

She is doing this purposely out of spite so I have to wait a long time before I put the home

up for sale. My mother had no valid will but I will split the contents with my sister. How long do I have to

wait for her to show up? I'm paying maintenance, taxes on an empty home and constantly running over there to check on things. Will I get in any legal trouble if I just ship her items to her home and put the house up for sale?

Great idea. Just document what you have done. Securely ship the items with proof of delivery and move on. If you have follow up, visit me at kliszlaw.com. I'm also in Livonia. Tim Klisz
