Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

Is this legal for me to do?

I just have a question, I have recieved a couple months ago a letter from a attorney who wanted to collect a debt for a credit card from 1998, I moved from one state to another during that time and have beem told different things on the SOL my question is since I didnt respond to the letter if someone comes to my door with something to give me can I legally say and not get into trouble that there is noone by that name living here? See the name they have is a name I had before I remarried 5 years ago so technically that name does not live here, so is this ok to say? Thank-you

There may be an issue re: Statute of Limitations. Call me to discuss further. I would need to see documentation on the original debt.
