monthly payments to collection firm

i am unemployed and trying to survive. collection firm threatening judgment. making payments. can collection firm take my bank account or obtain access to it? am i being intimidated?

Have an attorney send a Cease & Desist letter under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Do not ignore any Summons served personally on you.

The collector may sue you for the unpaid debt and seek a Judgement. You would be entitled to defend your case in court. Only after a Judgement is acquired may the creditor seek to garnish bank accounts and/or wages.
