Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

My sister owes me almost $1000 and refuses to pay me. Now my car is in need of repair and if I do not get it repaired I cannot go to my doctor who will clear me to return to work on Oct.7th. ( I had major surgery on Aug.26th) If I cannot go to the doctor I will lose my job. Can I sue my sister if I lose my job due to her failure to pay me what she owes me?
