RE: DWI and Child Custody

Does having a DWI conviction impact a judges decision as to whether or not a party is granted custody of a child?

It depends. If it is recent and there's reason to believe the parent has a drug or alcohol problem, it might effect custody. If it is very old and not indicative of the parent's ability to care for the child it might have no impact at all. It would be best to consult an attorney about this as the specific circumstances can impact whether the dwi impacts things or not.
