Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

Moral or legal question

My exhusband had me as beneficiary on one of his life insurance policies. His present wife had power of attorney, 6 mos. before he died she and her family broke open his safe and found it. She cashed it in. At the time they did not need the money and were having a property sale of part of the farms. He and I were married 25 yrs and when we divorced I didn't take hardly anything because we had two children and I wanted them to be able to have the farms. He became ill with dimentia and ALS, they had only been married around 4 years. My children want me to fight this, but I know it is hard to prove that a poa did something to line their own pockets, also I really think she did it because she didn't like me. Especially because my ex and I always remained close after the divorce.

Re: Moral or legal question

This may actually be more of an estate issue than a family law issue..unless the divorce decree ordered that you remain a beneficiary of his life insurance policies. You should check your divorce decree to see if it addresses the issue. After you do, get back to us!
