Breach of Marriage Contract

My daughter lived with a person for almost 5 years taking care of his children with him. During this time, he and she came to her father and I on separate occasions whereas he asked for her hand in marriage, because he wanted to do it right. Last week, he broke their relationship and told her and her daughter to move out. Is there any recourse for her? He told her to take what she needed and could return for the rest. However, today, the day agreed on, he changed his mind saying that it would be too hard on the kids. Agreed, but, he now also has a ''nanny'' sleeping in my daughter's bed with him, by his own admission and they still need her stuff in house til tomorrow. Also, he rolled her vehicle and supposedly got her a replacement van. Now he wants to take the van and give her a vehicle that no way compares in value. Her name and his dad's is on the title... Again, I ask, is there anything she can do?

I am afraid not. Without a written cohabitation agreement, there is no cause of action. Such lawsuits were specifically eliminated from Minnesota Statutes.
