Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

Child custody matter

I am inquiring on the subject of Child Custody and supervision questions. I have a 6 yr old daughter that just recently has been removed from staying with my ex-mother-in-law and is being left at home with a 13 yr old step-brother after school for almost 2 hrs. Are there any legal ramifications that I can take in this matter. I am just concerned for her safety. Also, we have joint custody of my child but she primarily lives with my ex-wife. Thank you for your time and possible anwser.

Re: Child custody matter

Because you have joint custody, you have the right to substantially participate in decisions involving the care, custody, and control of your daughter. Tell the mother your concerns. Listen to her concerns and needs. Then tell her what you require for your daughter giving her as much freedom as possible in meeting your requirements. Hopefully, by working together the both of you will come up with something that is better than either of you first thought about or at least something you are both confortable with. If she does not meet your requirements, then file a motion to modify the child custody arrangement.

Re: Child custody matter

Unless there's some other reason you shouldn't have custody, you would hold priority in custody. I'd argue best interest of child would be with you.
