Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

I was summoned to court for an old credit card debt. I have payed the debt off outside of our court hearing and I was wondering if I had to still show up for court. My last payment was returned but the make up payment cleared the day before the court date. Is it too late to dismiss the case and do I have to show up to court today?

It is in your interest to show up and make sure the case gets dismissed, or that you verbally deny the debt. You might even take your documentation that the debt has been paid. Sometimes when a date is paid late, the information does not get to the attorney handling the answer docket. They may accidently take a default judgment.

Good luck
