Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey

My Request for Documents in an Arbitration was basically ignored

I am the plaintiff in an AAA arbitration case regarding employment law.

I sent a Request for Documents which I know the defendent has or had(I know because I was given incomplete copies of the documents while I was an employee).

The response I recieved for various documents was either:

1. they do not have the documents

2. they have never known the documents to exist

3. they are no longer in possession of the documents because a former employee has them

4. it is too expensive to produce the documents from antiquated computer program

Can I file a motion to compel dicovery through AAA?

What else can I do in an arbitration to compel them to hand over the requested documents.

There is limited discovery in AAA cases. However, you could request that the arbitrator ask for them. You are entitled to all documents and if they are not produced through the AAA matter, you may be able to get a Court Order so you can proceed.
