Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

Doctor Refusing to Send Bill

Dear Sirs:

I have a past civil action that I thought was

taken care of until I went to rent an apt. I was

told there was something on my credit report. When

I sent in for a Credit Report copy I found that

a past Civil Action against me was still lingering

there. I had thought it was taken care of. Then I

called the doctor and he told me I still owed

$15.00 in court fees to him. I then asked him to

send me a bill and I would be glad to pay it. This

was at least 3 mths ago and have received NO BILL.

I found I owed $200.81 by calling the courthouse.

The way I see it...he just told me $15.00 so that

he could keep from clearing my credit and keep

this thing dragging out.

I am willing to pay this full $200.81 but don't

know exactly HOW to send it to him or what I

should do to guarantee that he would mail a LETTER

OF SATISFACTION to the Court House once he

received the Money Order or Check from me. Are

there steps that I should do to cover my

transaction and MAKE him get this settled?

Thank you!!

Re: Doctor Refusing to Send Bill

You need to prepare a Warrant to Satisfy Judgment, take it to his office with your certified check for the amount he is requesting. Confirm with him the amount due. If he says it is $15.00, take him that amount with the Warrant and have him sign it when you give him the check. You then will need to file the Warrant with the Clerk of the Court. The Warrant is a form that can be prepared by any attorney. If you want me to assist you, feel free to call my office at 609-546-8010. Good luck!
